Cartier and Donnacona
I had a really happy day because I did something that is really meaningful.I become a tutor to teach a student in 10B with the science. At first I asked him some questions in the book,but all of his answer is "I don't know". I was crazy when I noticed that. Fortunately, I didn't give up I explain some important point to him very slowly until he understood. I was happy to teach him because when I taught him I also was studying.
I was very happy recently. I wasn't feel angry because all of my friends are really good with me.Thanks to my friends(Catherine,Angela,Heaven,Nancy,Mariah...). I think I am really lucky because all of you are my friends. Thanks to some students in grade 11 and grade 12. Your guys are always help me when I in trouble. Thank you to my best friend who is in Shanghai-Ten. You always give me courage to do something.Thanks to the teacher who are teaching me. I think I learn something new everyday not only in study,but also in the life. Sometimes,I was think of the life that in before. I was in compunction because I had some firends that are very bad. I used my real heart to get along well with them,but they didn't use their real heart to make a friend with me. I was really sad when I noticed that,but now I was happy because I found they are not good very early. I am happy now because the people who around me are really good with me. I have more deep thinking of my life now. I know which friend I should make and who I should use my real heart to get along with. I know some students in school always want to do something to hurt me,but I should tell them that I am very stronge. I don't know what will happen in the future but I just want to grasp the happiness that I have now.

As this picture shows the exploration can helps the country be more bigger. Like this picture shows there are some people in a land near the sea where is no house and the local people. The leader of those people puts the flag to the land in this area. Maybe it's means that area belongs to them now. The exploration can increase the area of a country and let the people have more space to do activities. Maybe exploration also can let more people have a house to live.

This is a picture that shows the exploration of the gold. Gold can helps the country be more stronger and more richer. Exploration helps the country to get more resources that good for a country. Gold is very valuable in the world. Exploration can provide the spend of a country to do so meting meaningful. Gold can help people to get more food to eat and have enough spacer to relax. In a word exploration it's really important to a country.
This picture shows that the explore was found something in the mountain. He tried to learn this and get someting information of the substance that he found. Exploration makes the people learm more knowledge. Exploration also helps the people know more things about the world. This world is very interesting and have so many interesting tings that wait for the people to find and learn.
Exploration can create conflict and misunderstanding

The exploration can cause conflict between two different countries. Like the explore wants to have expolration to another country,but the leader of this country doesn't want to stranger to come to their land. This is the reason that cause the conflict and misunderstanding. No one want to strangers to take their own resources,so this also will cause the conflict. In a word all the people wants their family is the best.

There are six people in this picture. I see a woman who holds her child hand waiting for her husband. They give the fur to the other people to trade. Their child stands behind them. I think maybe his parents don't want him to see the fur because it's very cruel. The person who checks the fur very carefully and he is thinking something . There is another person who gets fur waiting to trade. Unfortunately ,the kid looks at the dead animal. I think this picture can show us that the fur trade makes the children not have a good memory of their childhood.

This picture shows the people who carry the fur are walking in the forest. There are two men in the picture. Both of them carry more than one fur. They look very rigor,but they still work very hard.There are two women in the picture. I just see a woman crays fur ,she looks very unhappy and helpless. I think all of them want to trade to get money. They look very poor. This picture also shows that the fur is very heavy. Maybe they get money by trading fur. I saw the fur that in the picture looks very cruel.

There are so much fur in that picture. This picture shows a store that sells the fur. The man who in this picture looks very rich. I think this store also is a place that people can trade. This picture reminds me of the dead animals. They were trying to live,but they couldn't. The fur that showed in the picture looks very scary. I don't why the people in that period to trade fur, but I think they must do that. Every one need money and food to live ,so maybe this is a only way that they can make money and get food. I really want to know the feeling of them when they killed the animal. I think all of them were felt very cruel and sad.

This picture shows the early Indian Traders. Their life looks very poor and the house that they lived looks very poor,too. I see fur hanging from the roof of the house. It shows maybe the family depend on the fur to live. The woman in that picture looks is cooking something and the child helps the family to do the chores. I don't know what does the father do in that picture. I think the fur is the most valuable substance in their family. They have no smile and they looks very unhappy with the life.
What is fur trade?
Fur trade in Canada began as an adjunct to the fishing industry. Early in the 16th century fishermen from northwest Europe were taking rich catches of COD on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland and in the Gulf of St Lawrence (see FISHERIES HISTORY). Drying their fish onshore took several weeks, during which time good relations had to be maintained with the natives, who were eager to obtain metal and cloth goods from the Europeans: iron knives and axes, awls, copper kettles, blankets and trinkets. All they had to offer in exchange were furs and fresh meat. The fishermen found an eager market in Europe for the furs and made high profits. When the wide-brimmed felt hat came into fashion later in the 16th century, the demand for BEAVER PELTS increased tremendously. The best material for hat felt was the soft underfur of the beaver, the strands of which had tiny barbs that made them mat together tightly.

1.What kind of man is he? What can you know from the pictures?
In the first picture Jacques Cartier looks very powerful because he orders other people to do something.The First Nation people are kneeling to him.He also looks very strict.In the second picture he is thinking ,so he looks very farsighted.In both of these two pictures I can know he is a man who is wise and has authority.He also like a man who doesn't like to smile.
2.Introduction of Jacques Cartier
Jacques Cartier was a French explorer who claimed what is now Canada for France. He was the first European to describe and map the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the shores of the Saint Lawrence River, which he named "The Country of Canad as", after the Iroquois names for the two big settlements he saw at Steadicam (Quebec City) and at Hochelaga (Montreal Island).
Jacques Cartier was born in 1491 in Saint-Malo, the port on the extreme north-east coast of Brittany. Cartier, who was a respectable mariner, improved his social status in 1520 by marrying Mary Catherine Des Granches, member of a leading family. His good name in Saint-Malo is recognized by its frequent appearance on baptismal registers as godfather or witness.
Cartier spent the rest of his life in Saint-Malo and his nearby estate, where he often was useful as an interpreter in Portugese, and he died aged 65 or 66 on September 1, 1557 from an epidemic
In a word he is a man who is successful and helped his country be stronger .He used his life to voyage for his country.Totally he did three times of voyage.
3. Why is he important for the history of Canada?
Jacques Cartier gave Canada its name when he misunderstood or misused the Iroquois word for village "kanata" to mean the name of the whole area.
Jacques Cartier discovered Prince Edward Island in 1534.
He was the first explorer of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Jacques Cartier built a fort at Stadacona, where Quebec City is now located.
Further up the St. Lawrence, Cartier had Indian guides lead him to Hochelaga (Montreal).
Jacques Cartier was the first explorer to chart the St. Lawrence river.
4.When was Cartier sent to Canada? Why was he sent to explore? Who sent him?Jacques Cartier was sent to Canada by king of France in 1540. Because he went to the New World to discover gold and diamonds and a new route to Asia.

6.If I am First Nations people ,when the Europeans came I would feel curious.I would want to them to leave because I don't think they come here just want to have a visit,but I would not have an argument with them .We will show them our politeness.I would say"Could you please leave our country we don't want to other people come to our country."If they are politely,I will invite them to stay for one night,but if they are rude I would let them leave.
7a.I learned the Jacques Cartier found Canada in his first voyage and he ordered some people to trade with the Canadian people.In the second time Jacques Cartier with his subordinate went to there again,but they took the axe and took the leader's sons to France.They also wrote France in Canadian land ,too.The leader of Canada was very angry.When Jacques Cartier came to Canada in third times he took the two boys back .Both of this two boys told his father their experiences in France.
7b.The Jacques Cartier took the Donnaconna back to the France and he said a promise to the Iroquois.He wanted the Donnaconna to say something good for him to have another chance to go to Canada.The king of France didn't agree .Both of Jacques Cartier and Donnaconna weren't come to Canada.The Donnaconna was died in France after 4 years.
8.What is scurvy?
